Jeff Weissler in his office Welcome to the first issue of Chew on This, ConsciousWine’s newsletter. The wine world is greening, and producers have embraced sustainability in a huge way. To most wineries it’s not a question of whether they’re doing sustainable practices or not, it’s a question of how much and in what ways. The Sustainability Car is an image and idea you’ll be hearing a lot from on ConsciousWine.

The Principles & Practices section gives you the core of ConsciousWine. In future issues, and thru products like DVD’s and webinars, we’ll discuss each of the different aspects.

Wines in Review includes 4 French wines, which for some quickly brings up, isn’t sustainability supposed to be another word for local? French wine often includes small production, great biodiversity on the farm, dry farming, and natural winemaking. A lot of what’s done in the US is modeled after what the wines of France offer. There is soul in them thar hills! ConsciousWine is about exposure and understanding of what it takes to make living wine, and supporting the vitality of the places they come from for future generations.

Expect bouts of exposure to French wine and beyond, as ConsciousWine is a website based adventure talking to the world of which we’re all apart. And one more thing: We do love supporting local!
